Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], Nov 23 (ANI): "Kamal Nath is Commission Nath", said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its latest salvo on Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath.
"Today, from this stage, we are coining a new name for Kamal Nath Ji. He is not Kamal Nath, he is 'Commission Nath'," said BJP's national spokesperson Sambit Patra at a press conference here referring to Nath's alleged involvement in the 2G Spectrum scam.
Expressing full confidence of retaining the state, Patra mentioned: "The people in Madhya Pradesh don't want 'Commission Nath', only 'lotus' will bloom here".
Meanwhile, BJP Member of Parliament GVL Narasimha Rao also trained gun at the senior Congress leader and one of the longest-serving Lok Sabha members, saying: "When Kamal Nath Ji was a minister and involved in scams, he was shielded by a person. That person is Rahul Gandhi. Kamal Nath was the main face of the rice exports scam. The case was not handed over to the Central Board of Investigation (CBI)."
He further said, "When Niira Radia tapes were leaked in connection with 2G Scam, Kamal Nath Ji's name also appeared in it, his true form as a 'minister of 15 per cent commission' was exposed. Even then, he was not removed from there because he is very close to Rahul Gandhi."
Earlier this week, the BJP shared a video of Nath addressing a gathering of Muslim clerics, telling them to bear with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) tactics till the election day. A BJP delegation also approached the Election Commission (EC) in Delhi requesting it to take legal action against Nath for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by inciting religious sentiments.
However, Nath issued a clarification over the video clip saying that he only told the Muslim clerics to maintain communal harmony till the November 28 elections, warning them to stay wary of efforts from the BJP and RSS to disrupt the process.
Madhya Pradesh will go to polls on November 28 and the counting of votes will be held on December 11. (ANI)
