New Delhi [India], August 16 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina expressed the party's strong support for the Election Commission's announcement of dates for the upcoming assembly elections in the region, hoping for a high voter turnout similar to the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year.
On the announcement of dates for Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, J-K BJP President Ravinder Raina says, "BJP welcomes the decision of the Election Commission. BJP was waiting for this decision of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir for a long time... In the last 10 years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, peace, tranquillity, brotherhood has strengthened in Jammu and Kashmir. There has been development in Jammu and Kashmir".
Referring to the recent high voter turnout in the Lok Sabha elections, Raina expressed confidence in a similarly enthusiastic response from the electorate in the upcoming assembly polls.
"There was record voting in the Lok Sabha elections, we are confident that there will be record voting in the assembly elections as well and the way the Prime Minister has done great work in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP will definitely win in Jammu and Kashmir," he added.
As per the announcement made by the Election Commission of India on Friday, the voters in Jammu and Kashmir will cast their votes on September 18, and September 25, and the third phase will take place on October 1, along with Haryana.

The counting of the votes will take place on October 4 for Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir states, announced Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. (ANI)
