Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 3 (ANI): All India Congress Committee spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Rathore on Friday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them and Prime Minister Modi of misleading the public about Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi's statements on Hindutva.
Rathore was addressing a press conference on Wednesday in Shimla.
"I think the statement of the Prime Minister is not right and needed. Rahul Gandhi ji has given his first statement and he has given a message to the people of the country that all religions in the country don't teach violence. Hindu religion is a great religion and we talk about Universe as a family in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the BJP is trying to mislead the people of the country, they are misinterpreting his statement," Rathore said.
He said that the Hindu dharma cannot be the monopoly of BJP and RSS.
"We also condemn that the parts of the speech of Rahul Gandhi have been expunged from the parliament proceedings," Rathore said.
"This is for the first time the Modi government is facing a strong opposition in ten years now their dictatorship will not last anymore. Rahul Gandhi has come up as a strong leader of opposition and now in near future he would strongly raise the issue of unemployment, corruption and inflation. It is important for democracy that he would come in a strong role of opposition," he added.
In his speech in Lok Sabha on Monday afternoon, during the debate on the motion of thanks on President Droupadi Murmu's address, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of preaching and spreading violence and hatred.
Responding to Rahul Gandhi's remarks on the Hindu Community, PM Modi on Tuesday said that today there is a conspiracy to falsely accuse Hindus of being violent and this country will not forget it for centuries.
"Today, there is a conspiracy to falsely accuse Hindus, a serious conspiracy is unfolding. It has been said that Hindus are violent. This is your culture, this is your character, this is your thinking, this is your hatred. These are the actions against Hindus in this country. This country will not forget it for centuries," PM Modi said in the Lok Sabha

After Rahul Gandhi's maiden speech triggered political outrage, several portions of his address targeting the central government were expunged from the records of Parliament on Monday. (ANI)
