BJP thinks of developed India in 2047; Congress talks about differences between people: Chhattisgarh Dy CM

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], May 9 (ANI): In the context of Sam Pitroda's remarks about the appearance of Indians from different parts, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that a time when the BJP is thinking of a developed India in 2047, the Congress is talking about the differences between people.
Vijay Sharma expressed his dismay at the comments, stating, "We are all saddened by the way Mahatma Gandhi was discriminated against in southern India, and now the same kind of discrimination is happening again, with divisions between the north, west, east, and south. It's been said since ancient times that India is one from north to south, but he still hasn't understood this concept. When BJP talks about a grand India in 2047, he is talking about discrimination."
Pitroda stirred a major controversy in the middle of the Lok Sabha polls. He, in an interview with 'The Statesman' on May 8, while reflecting upon the democracy in India said, "We have survived 75 years in a happy environment where people could live together, leaving aside a few fights here and there. We could hold a country together as diverse as India, where people in the East look like Chinese, people in the West look like Arab, people in the North look like whites and maybe people in the South look like Africans."
Pitroda said that the people of India respect different languages, religions, food and customs which vary from region to region.
"That's the India that I believe in, where everybody has a place and everybody compromises a little bit," he said.
Earlier too, Pitroda had stoked a controversy while speaking about the concept of inheritance tax prevailing in America stating that such issues need to be discussed.
On Pitroda's resignation, he said, "This is all part of their collusion. Unless Congress declares that he (Pitroda) is permanently expelled, there's no need to believe in any of this."
After his remarks caused a major political furore in election season and embarrassed the Congress, Sam Pitroda resigned as chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress on Wednesday.
"Mr Sam Pitroda has decided to step down as Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress of his own accord. The Congress President has accepted his decision," Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said on X.
On Adhiranjan Choudhary's remarks about PM Modi, he said, "Who isn't saying now that the government is set to repeat, with PM Modi once again becoming the country's prime minister? Everyone is saying this, and it's clear to everyone. Congress, which is a 100-year-old party, is contesting this election with its smallest number of seats in history. They are not contesting to form a government. When people who aren't even contesting to form a government make such statements, I don't understand. And they keep making grand statements."
West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's handling of the Lok Sabha elections, suggested that Modi is "rattled" and attempting to mislead the public due to uncertainty about the election outcome. He stated on Wednesday, "Before the start of the election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared his party's victory. But things have now changed, and he is now rattled."
On Robert Vadra's remarks that he would not want to join politics to respond to someone, but wants to join politics to serve the people of the country, he said, "He's already served quite a bit for a long time. And with all the various rumors and discussions about him that have been circulating, after all this 'service,' he wants to join politics. If not, the people will teach him what real public service means."
Businessman Robert Vadra on Thursday hinted at joining politics as a Rajya Sabha member, saying that he will surely join active politics after some time.
Vadra told ANI, "I do not want to come to politics to give a reply to anyone. I want to serve the people of the country, so maybe it is through the Rajya Sabha. I will keep working for the people across the country and will travel to Amethi, Raebareli, and Morabadad, as it makes me very happy to get their blessings. So I will surely join active politics after some time." (ANI)
