New Delhi [India], August 13 (ANI): A meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party office bearers is expected to take place on August 17 in the national capital with membership drive, preparedness for the assembly polls and organisational elections on the agenda, party sources said.
The meeting, which will be chaired by party chief JP Nadda, will be attended by BJP state chiefs, general secretaries and other office-bearers. Party general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh will also be present, sources said.
They said this is the first large meeting of party office-bearers meeting after the Lok Sabha elections.
The coming assembly polls in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand are significant for the BJP after the party fell short of an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha polls. The BJP is leading the third successive NDA government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The BJP is in power in Maharashtra and Haryana and did not perform to its expectations in the two states in the Lok Sabha polls.
The party has begun preparations for the assembly polls and the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra and the BJP government in Haryana have made several announcements for the welfare of the people.
The office-bearers meeting is expected to take stock of the party's preparations in the assembly polls. (ANI)
