Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 1 (ANI): After the Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot issued a show-cause notice to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, Karnataka Congress leaders on Thursday termed the move "politically motivated," and said that Bharatiya Janata Party had "misused" the Raj Bhavan.
Speaking to reporters, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara alleged that the BJP is using the Governor's office against the state government.
"We discussed about the show-cause notice. We are going to take a decision on that. All this we will discuss in the Cabinet meeting. I can not reveal the legal position of the show-cause notice. It's politically motivated. They first tried ED, CBI and now they (BJP) are using the Governor's office," Parameshwara said.

Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that the Bharatiya Janata Party had "misused" the Raj Bhavan.
"Raj Bhavan has been misused by the BJP it is very very clear. They used the power in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Delhi, and West Bengal and I can give you various numbers of examples. So there is no surprise and we thought that our Governor was compared to other BJP Governors better but looks like he also becoming a puppet in the hands of the BJP. The way he is approaching things is very regrettable and unconstitutional. Today is cabinet meeting and after that meeting, our people will brief, what we have to say," Rao said.
He further said that it is a legal issue and this is an attempt to "destabilise."
"First they used ED, CBI and now they are using Raj Bhavan also. The Cabinet Meeting is being called for this reason," he added.

State Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil said that the show-cause against Karnataka CM is on the "wrong premises."
"Right now it is in the stage of show-cause notice being given to Karnataka CM which is on the wrong premises. We are discussing that in the Cabinet today. The Chief Minister has nominated a Deputy Chief Minister to preside since allegations are against the CM and show cause notice is being issued so he feels like he should not be part of the discussion. He asked us to have a discussion and take a decision," Patil said.

Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar also reacted over the matter and said that he would explain everything after the Cabinet meeting.
"See after the Cabinet meeting, I will definitely come and react to it. I will explain that there is a Constitution, there is a democracy, and there is the will of the people. We will explain all of this," he said.
Speaking on his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karnataka deputy CM DK Shivakumar said that he has requested the PM to help the state as the population has increased a lot in the state.
"Bengaluru is a very important city which gives them a lot of revenue, the world leaders and world investors are coming to Bengaluru. In the time of Manmohan Singh, big infrastructures were given to Bengaluru... Now, that the population has increased a lot, I requested the PM to help us... We met the defence minister as well. We requested for the financial funds that are committed in the budget," he added.
The Karnataka Governor issued a show-cause notice to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on July 27.
Earlier, a complaint was filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and nine others for allegedly forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority.
The complaint alleges wrongdoing by Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathy, his brother-in-law Malikarjuna Swamy Devaraj, who claimed to be a landowner, and his family. It was further alleged that MUDA created fake documents and obtained plots worth crores of rupees. Snehamayi Krishna has raised several questions in his complaint. (ANI)
