Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], Nov 8 (ANI): Former Madhya Pradesh Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sartaj Singh on Thursday joined the Congress.
Singh will contest election from Hoshangabad assembly constituency on a Congress ticket.
Singh has also served as a minister in Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh cabinet and also represented Hoshangabad and Narsinghpur parliamentary constituency. However, he was shunted out of the cabinet in 2016 on the basis of the 75-plus age criteria and had been at odds with the BJP since then.
The former Union minister wept openly after his name did not appear in the third list of BJP's candidates for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls.
He was a two-time Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Seoni-Malwa seat in the state's Hoshangabad district.
The BJP today released its third list of 32 candidates, leaving only six seats, in the 230-member Madhya Pradesh House, for which no names have been declared so far.
Madhya Pradesh is slated to go to polls on November 28 for 230 constituencies. Counting of votes will take place on December 11. (ANI)
