Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 27 (ANI): The BJP legislator from the Bharmour Assembly constituency in Himachal Pradesh, Janak Raj, has urgently called on the authorities to take serious steps to aid the thousands of pilgrims stranded on the Manimahesh Pilgrimage trek. The trek, which reaches an altitude of over 18,500 feet above sea level, has become a significant challenge for over 20,000 devotees who are suffering due to the poor condition of the path and the lack of adequate support from the government.
Janak Raj has demanded immediate action to improve the conditions on the pilgrimage route, stressing that the current situation is a "complete failure on the part of the government."
He expressed deep concern over the plight of the devotees who have been forced to create a walkable path themselves in their attempt to reach the sacred Manimahesh peak. "The situation during the Manimahesh Yatra is alarming," Dr. Janak Raj stated.
"People are being charged Rs. 20 in the name of registration, which is not right, especially when the government's arrangements for essential facilities like roads, paths, and security are so inadequate," he said.
The legislator criticized the government for its lack of preparedness and inadequate response to the needs of the pilgrims. He pointed out that despite the registration fees being collected from the pilgrims, there is a glaring absence of basic infrastructure and safety measures. "This video exposes the government's arrangements--or rather, the lack thereof--for facilities like roads, paths, and security. Since yesterday, countless people have informed me through phone calls that the system here has collapsed. Neither police nor administration is visible anywhere," he lamented.
According to Janak Raj, pilgrims on the Manimahesh Pilgrimage trek route face challenging conditions. The legislator claims that the path is not maintained, and there are no visible signs of administrative support or safety measures to aid the pilgrims in their journey. (ANI)
