New Delhi [India], July 31 (ANI): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday criticized the BJP, alleging that it has trapped the country's farmers in a cycle of debt. He said that the INDIA bloc aims to free farmers from this by offering them a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP).
His remarks come after the government of Telangana released the second tranche of the farm loan waiver.
Sharing a post on his official X handle, Rahul Gandhi said, "Congratulations once again to the farmer brothers and sisters of Telangana. As per its manifesto promise, the Telangana Government has released the second tranche of farm loan waiver."
The post added, "The 'Prajalu Congress Government' is providing relief to 6.4 lakh farmer families of the state by waiving their loans up to Rs 1.5 lakh. While on the one hand, the BJP has kept the farmers of the country trapped in the debt trap, denying their demand and need for legal guarantee of MSP, on the other hand, Congress is working to provide help to the agricultural families at every possible place. INDIA will take the farmers of India out of this debt trap by providing them the weapon of a legal guarantee of MSP."
Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also shared a post on his X handle and said that the Congress has been fulfilling its manifesto promises, despite the significant financial loss left by the previous BRS government.
"As guaranteed by our leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress government in Telangana has been implementing its manifesto promises on a mission-mode, despite huge financial mess left behind by previous BRS regime," he said on X.
The post by Reddy further said, "The second tranche of loan waivers for farmers has been released, bringing cheer to another 6.4 lakh agrarian families for loans up to Rs 1.5 lakh. With a total loan waiver for over 18,00,000 farmers within 12 days has brought a festival of joy across Telangana. It has also started restoring faith in politics and promises." (ANI)
