West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], Nov 16 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday fired a fresh salvo at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that the party is a "history changer, name changer, note changer and institution changer, but not game changer", due to which, "the country is in danger."
Addressing a party meeting here, Banerjee said, "BJP is history changer, name changer, note changer, institution changer and policy changer, but not a game changer. The country is in danger. They (BJP) project as if they have given birth to the nation but they were nowhere during independence."
Accusing the BJP of "capturing" key institutions, such as the CBI and RBI, Banerjee said that the party has been misusing power, something, which according to her, was never witnessed in the country before.
Continuing her tirade against the BJP-led Centre over the National Register of Citizens (NRC) issue, Banerjee urged the citizens of Assam to continue agitating against the draft list, while adding that the TMC will back such people.
"In NRC, genuine voters were taken out, Assamese, Biharis, Bengalis and Biharis have been forcefully removed. Just imagine, that your mother's name is there, but your father's name is not there. Your son's name is mentioned, but there is no mention of your daughter. I urge that there should be no divisions over this," the TMC chief said.
Reacting to the Andhra Pradesh government's decision to withdraw consent for CBI jurisdiction in the state, Banerjee further said, "Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has done the right thing in saying that he won't allow CBI in his state."
Training guns at the BJP again, the West Bengal Chief Minister said that the party had only one job -- "Building Ram Temple, igniting communal tensions by implementing NRC and building statues" instead of focussing on the development of the country and its citizens.
"The party that made 'building statues' as its poll plank will itself turn into a statue in the next year's Lok Sabha elections," Mamata said while taking a jibe at the BJP for building the 'Statue of Unity'.
Banerjee further said that all the opposition parties would come together to dethrone BJP from power in the next year's general elections.
Laying out the political roadmap for the TMC in the 2019 polls, Banerjee informed that the party will contest in Bihar, Assam, Tripura, Jharkhand, Orissa, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram respectively.
Underlining the need of working for the welfare of the people at all times, the TMC president said, "I am forming a Scheduled Tribe committee within the party for the welfare of tribals in the state. No one should be sidelined. All should be benefitted."
She went on to say that the TMC will play its part in saving the nation. (ANI)
