Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) [India], Dec 8 (ANI): Lakshman Kumbhar, who is the face of the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), claimed he was denied free medical treatment by the state government under the healthcare scheme-- a matter which has irked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
BJP leader Aparajita Sarangi hit out at Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik saying a state should be governed by the implementation of schemes, and not by "video conferencing."
Sarangi, who met Kumbhar at AIIMS Bhubaneshwar, told ANI: "I have met him, the doctors have said that if he is taken to AIIMS Delhi for better treatment he will be absolutely fine. The government should ensure implementation of its scheme so that the last person who needs the facilities gets it. The state is not ruled by video conferencing."
Kumbhar, who is a heart patient from Bhela village, alleged that he has not been given adequate medical aid, despite his photo being used by the state government in hoardings, banners and newspapers advertisements as a beneficiary of the BSKY.
Lakshman, who is currently admitted in AIIMS Bhubaneswar, also said that he was denied free treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
"I went to SCB medical three times for treatment but was sent back every time by the hospital officials. The third time, they didn't even consider to do the check-up while saying that there are no beds," he said. (ANI)
