Hisar (Haryana) [India], July 19 (ANI): Congress MP Deepender Hooda on Friday accused the BJP government in Haryana of betraying people and expressed confidence in his party's victory in the state Assembly election due later this year.
"BJP has betrayed the people of Haryana in the last 10 years. I think the Congress party will form the government in Haryana with a huge majority. People have made up their minds," Hooda told ANI.
When asked about whether Congress will ally with the Samajwadi Party for the Assembly election, he said that SP has no mass base in Haryana and Congress has no alliance with the party in the state.
"The Samajwadi Party has no mass base in Haryana. We have an alliance at the national level but today we have no alliance with the Samajwadi Party at the state level," he said.
Hooda said Congress workers are campaigning hard in the state, making people aware of the BJP government's "failures" in the state. He said that the Congress is confident in its victory but does not have overconfidence.
Hooda said that in every section of society in the state, support for Congress has increased.
Another INDIA bloc party, the Aam Aadmi Party, also announced that they will contest the upcoming Assembly election in the state without having an alliance.
The AAP and Congress had a seat-sharing arrangement in the recently held Lok Sabha election.
The AAP had contested one Lok Sabha seat in Haryana and in the rest of the seats in the state, it supported Congress.
During a press conference that saw the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP MPs Sanjay Singh and Sandeep Pathak in Chandigarh, Mann said that the AAP has decided to contest the Haryana assembly elections with full force.
"The Aam Aadmi Party has decided that it will contest the Haryana assembly elections with full force. We have governments in Delhi and Punjab; half of Haryana touches Delhi and half of Haryana touches Punjab. The people of Haryana appealed to us, that's why we came here. Haryana gave a chance to the BJP, Congress and all parties, but everyone looted. Now bring Kejriwal," Mann said.
Haryana is one of the eight states that will be holding legislative assembly elections this year. Currently, the state is ruled by a coalition government formed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). The Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 are expected to take place on or before October 2024, as the current Assembly's tenure is set to end on November 3 this year. However, the election schedule is yet to be announced. (ANI)
