BJP has already won more than 270 seats: UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya

"The first four phases of the Lok Sabha elections have been amazing. Seeing from the point of view of the BJP, we have already won more than 270 seats. In the fifth phase of the elections, I see one-sided support for the BJP, especially in the 14 seats of UP, including Raebareli where Rahul Gandhi is going to lose against BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh," Maury said.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 20 (ANI): Exuding confidence on BJP's victory in the Lok Sabha elections, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Monday claimed that the party has already won more than "270 seats" in the four phases of elections.
Emphasizing BJP's support in Uttar Pradesh, Maurya stated that the party will also win the Rae Bareli, which was the sole seat won by the Congress in the state in the 2019 polls.
Notably, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Raebareli. A stronghold of the Gandhi family, Raebareli was earlier represented by Sonia Gandhi, who has now moved to Rajya Sabha.
"The first four phases of the Lok Sabha elections have been amazing. Seeing from the point of view of the BJP, we have already won more than 270 seats. In the fifth phase of the elections, I see one-sided support for the BJP, especially in the 14 seats of UP, including Raebareli where Rahul Gandhi is going to lose against BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh. I urge everyone to exercise their right to vote. This election is historic. There is a heatwave going on, but I request everyone to cast their vote. This election is to make India the third largest economy, these elections are to eradicate poverty," Maurya said while speaking to ANI.
Earlier, on Sunday Gujarat BJP leader Hardik Patel expressed confidence that the BJP would win more seats in Uttar Pradesh compared to the 2014 and 2019 polls.
"The kind of enthusiasm that is there in the party workers of the state, BJP will win more seats in UP this time compared to 2014 and 2019. INDI alliance is diverting people. If there is someone who respects the constitution the most, it's PM Modi. When he was the CM of Gujarat, he took out a rally with the constitution in his hand. Congress has only misused the people," Patel told ANI here.
Notably, polling for the Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh is being held across all seven phases.
Voting for the fifth phase of the ongoing began on Monday across 49 parliamentary constituencies spread over six states and two Union Territories (UTs) amid tight security and arrangements.
In the 2019 polls, the BJP mopped up the bulk of the electoral spoils in the state, winning 62 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats, while ally Apna Dal (S) won two more seats.
Mayawati's BSP managed to secure 10 seats, while her then-alliance partner, Akhilesh Yadav's SP, had to settle for just 5 seats. The Congress won just a lone seat in the state. In the 2014 elections, the BJP swept UP, winning 71 seats, while the Congress could only bag 2. (ANI)
