New Delhi [India], September 13 (ANI): After the Supreme Court granted bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, Delhi minister Atishi said the BJP-led central government has been "harassing" the Aam Aadmi Party and demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Kejriwal in a corruption case registered by CBI in the alleged excise policy scam.
"The BJP's central government and its agencies have left no stone unturned in harassing AAP in the last two years. Today, the Central Ministers, especially Home Minister Amit Shah, should drown in a handful of water. Today the court has confirmed that CBI is a political pawn. Today we demand that Amit Shah should resign," said Atishi.
While addressing a press conference along with Atishi, Bharadwaj said the Supreme Court has called the CBI a "caged parrot" and also said that the agency "should appear unbiased."
"All the accused under trial in the so-called excise case, except one, have now got bail. The comment made by the Supreme Court is the same thing that we have been saying all along. The court has basically said that 22 months ago, the CBI had questioned Kejriwal but arrested him after 22 months because they thought that Arvind Kejriwal could be released now," he added
Both the leaders also called for the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah.
Earlier, former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP leader Manish Sisodia lashed out at the BJP and alleged Kejriwal was arrested under "premeditated conspiracy."
He said that the SC's decision is a clear message for the BJP to stop their "dictatorship."
"The bail granted by the Supreme Court to Arvind Kejriwal is important in several ways. First of all, this is a matter of relief and joy for AAP, the Delhi government, and our families that our political guru Arvind Kejriwal, will come out of jail despite several conspiracies of the BJP. The SC has given a message to the BJP that they have to stop their dictatorship. The SC has said that the BJP is misusing the agencies and has made them their caged parrot. The SC said in very clear words that the CBI is working as a caged parrot," Sisodia said. (ANI)
