Patna (Bihar) [India], July 27 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA from Mahua Assembly seat, Mukesh Chauhan, on Sunday, said that he will abide by the orders of his party leaders, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav.
This comes after expelled RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav announced to contest as an independent candidate from the Mahua seat in the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls.
Mukesh Chauhan stated that he would not be able to determine which leader would contest from which constituency and expressed confidence that the people of the Mahua constituency would help him win again in the upcoming elections.
"I am not able to tell you who will contest from where. I am a worker of RJD. We will abide by the decision of our leaders, Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav. The people of Mahua have blessed me earlier, and I have full faith that they will bless me again", Mukesh Chauhan told reporters.
On July 26, while speaking to the reporters, Tej Pratap Yadav announced that he will be contesting as independent candidate from Mahua constituency in the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls. He stated that "Team Tej Pratap" is a medium to reach the people and noted that Nitish Kumar will not become Chief Minister in the upcoming elections.
"Team Tej Pratap Yadav is a platform to reach the people. This time, Uncle (Nitish Kumar) will not become the Chief Minister. Whoever's government is formed, if they talk about youth, employment, education, and health, Tej Pratap Yadav will stand with them with full strength. We will contest the election from Mahua; there are many opponents, they have started to feel the itch," he said.
The Assembly elections in Bihar are scheduled to take place at the end of this year. Currently, the National Democratic Alliance holds power in the state under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar.
While the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, will once again seek to continue its stint in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, comprising the RJD, Congress, and left parties, will aim to unseat Nitish Kumar. In the current Bihar Assembly of 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131 with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U)-45, HAM(S)-4, with the support of 2 Independent Candidates.
The Opposition's INDIA Bloc comprises 111 members, with the RJD leading with 77 MLAs, followed by Congress with 19, CPI(ML) with 11, CPI(M) with 2, and CPI with 2. (ANI)
