Bihar govt announces aid for SC/ST civil services aspirants

Patna (Bihar) [India] August 14 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday announced financial aid for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Dalits and Other Backward Class (OBCs) community students who crack Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) preliminary Exams.

Patna (Bihar) [India] August 14 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday announced financial aid for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Dalits and Other Backward Class (OBCs) community students who crack Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) preliminary Exams.
The money will be transferred directly into accounts of the eligible candidates and the entire amount will be paid in a single instalment.
While addressing a public function here on Tuesday the chief minister said, "Students from SC/ST, Dalit and OBC communities will be given Rs 50,000 if they clear Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Preliminary Exams and Rs 1 lakh if they clear Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Preliminary Exams."
The aforementioned assistance will be a part of the Mukhyamantri Anusuchit Jati Evam Janjati Chhatravas Yojana. The scheme was approved by the state cabinet during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Kumar.
On a related note, in another bid to uplift SC/ST sections in the state, on July 22nd, the Bihar government decided to grant facility of reservation in promotions to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes personnel in its services. (ANI)
