Muzaffarpur (Bihar) [India], September 30 (ANI): Several parts of Bihar are grappling with severe flooding due to heavy discharge of water from the Kosi Barrage in Birpur, following heavy rainfall.
Incessant rainfall in the catchment areas of Nepal has led to rivers touching or flowing above the danger level at several places in the bordering districts.
A massive volume of water has been released from the Kosi and Gandak barrages following heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of rivers in northern Bihar and Nepal.
Several parts of Sitamarhi were also affected due to floods after after a breach in the Mandar dam in Belsand block on September 29.
Floodwaters have entered the Katra Bakuchi Power Grid in Muzaffarpur, leaving 45,000 homes in darkness. Following instructions from department officials, power has been cut off as a precaution. Officials said they plan to restore electricity after the decrease in water level.

An engineer at the power station, Sunil Kumar, said that the water has entered the control room of the power grid. "Keeping in mind the safety, the power supply can be shut down anytime in 22 panchayats in Katra block. Approximately 42,000- 43,000 consumers will have to face the problem. Power will be cut off after the instructions of the department officials..."
"Administration is not active, no one has come to see the situation yet," a resident of Muzaffarpur said.
The water of the river Kosi has engulfed many northeastern districts of the state; normal life is affected by floods-like situations in Supaul. Several homes and facilities in the affected areas have filled with water.

"Our homes are filled with water; I have seen this kind of flooding after 1961. No one has come to meet us yet," Joginder Mehta, a resident of Supaul said.
"I have been here in the village since 1980, houses have been broken, and we are also facing a loss in agriculture as well," another resident said. (ANI)

"Bengal people are watching Mamata's communal mindset": Saraogi

"The Election Commission is a constitutional body. Conducting the SIR process is their right. What do these people want? Do they want to win by using the fake votes of Bangladeshis, Rohingyas, infiltrators, the deceased, and those with double entries? This cannot happen. The people of Bengal have the right to the resources of Bengal, not the infiltrators and Bangladeshis," he said.
