Patna (Bihar) [India], April 22 (ANI): The Congress Party on Monday suspended its Buxar District President, Manoj Pandey, after he failed to "establish a good contact" with the workers and leaders during a rally presided over by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge a day ago.
The suspension was confirmed by Rajesh Rathod, Chairman of the Media and Publicity of the Bihar Congress.
Speaking to ANI on Monday, Rathod said, "There was a big rally of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan', and during that, it was seen that the Buxar District President Dr Manoj Pandey was not able to establish good contact with the workers and leaders. As a result, the party has decided to remove him from the post because of his inaction; he has been suspended".
Rathod expressed confidence about the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, scheduled for later in the year. "The INDIA alliance will form the government in Bihar with a two-thirds majority, and the Chief Minister will be ours," he added.
Earlier, Congress chief Kharge launched a multi-pronged attack on the BJP in poll-bound Bihar, accusing it of misusing probe agencies "to harass" the party and trying to mislead people "through communal polarisation".
Addressing the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan' rally, Kharge attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the promise to provide a Rs 1.25 lakh crore package to Bihar had not been fulfilled.
While accusing the BJP of misusing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, Kharge also mentioned Robert Vadra and said it was all being done to "finish Congress".
He further appealed to people to throw out the Nitish-BJP government and bring in the 'mahagathbandhan' (alliance) government for "peace and progress of Bihar" and for the bright future of children of the state.
A high-stakes contest is expected in Bihar between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Mahagathbandhan.
The Bihar Assembly elections are expected to be held later this year. (ANI)
