Patna (Bihar) [India], November 20 (ANI): Leader of Opposition, Bihar Assembly, Vijay Kumar Sinha alleged complete lawlessness in Bihar after two members of a family were shot dead and four others were injured in Lakhisarai district.
The incident happened in Punjabi Mohalla under the Kabaiya police station of Lakhisarai district on Monday morning when the victims were on their way home after offering prayers at Chhath Ghat.
Sinha said that such a case is being diverted by projecting it as a land conflict or some personal conflict.
"The information I received is that four people have died and this is genocide...Law and Order has failed completely; a murderer is being saved. They divert cases by saying love affair, land conflict, personal conflict" Vijay Sinha said.
"If a person is beaten to death, then the post-mortem report is tempered and cause of death is changed to heart attack. This is completely anarchy," he added.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also lashed out at the RJD and JD(U) governments for allegedly backing up criminals and said the green carpet is being rolled down for criminals.
"In Lakhisarai, when some members of a family were returning after offering Arghya (Chhath Puja ritual), they were shot incessantly and they were attacked without any fear of law...Since RJD came to power with Nitish Kumar, criminals' dominance has increased in Bihar due to which Bihar is turning to Jungle Raj," said Poonawalla.
"Nowadays even police personnel are not safe; the way a sand mafia crushes an inspector to death. But if teachers or Anganwadi workers protest demanding their rights they were thrashed with lathis, but for criminals and mafia green carpet is rolled over," Poonawalla added.
According to the police, the violence took place over a matter related to love affair. Three injured were first rushed to Begusarai Sadar Hospital but later referred to Patna for further treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Chandan Kumar and Rajnandan Kumar, while the injured include Lovely Kumari, Preeti Kumari, Durga Kumari and Shashi Bhushan Kumar. All are said to be family members.
"The incident took place in Punjabi Mohalla. 6-7 members of a family were returning from Chhath Ghat when a man, Ashish Chaudhary who used to stay in front of the victim's house opened fire on them. Six people were shot, out of which two are dead and three are seriously injured," said Lakhisarai SP Pankaj Kumar.
"Ashish Chaudhary wanted to marry a girl belonging to the victim's family but they were not ready for this. We are conducting an investigation, the accused will be arrested soon," Kumar added.
Notably, the incident has left localities in a state of shock and grief, as the incident happened when Bihar was busy with its most auspicious Chhath Puja celebrations. (ANI)
