New Delhi [India], April 22 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar on April 24, and the state will receive several gifts at once. In this sequence, Bihar is all set to witness a major transformation in its railway landscape with the upcoming launch of two modern technology trains--the Amrit Bharat Express and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail.
These trains, part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of modernising Indian Railways, mark a significant addition to the state's transport infrastructure. The Prime Minister will flag off these trains virtually.
Calling Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat the "Triveni" of modern Indian railways, Prime Minister Modi has emphasised their role in shaping the future of travel in India. Bihar is now becoming the confluence of these three flagship services, further strengthening its position in the national railway network.
Speaking to ANI about Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, the Executive Director of Information and Publication of the Ministry of Railways, Dilip Kumar, said that following its debut on the Ahmedabad-Bhuj route, Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is now set to begin its second service between Jayanagar and Patna.
Designed for intercity travel between short distances, this Make-in-India train will feature 16 air-conditioned coaches, an upgrade version from the 12 coaches in the earlier model, with a capacity of over 2,000 passengers.
Kumar informed that the train is equipped with advanced safety and passenger-friendly features like Kavach automatic train protection system, CCTV surveillance in all coaches, Fire detection and suppression systems, Emergency talk-back systems, ergonomically designed international-standard seating, Dual USB (Type-A & Type-C) charging sockets, Vacuum-based toilets with disabled-friendly washrooms, Automatic doors and dust-proof gangways.
Also, route map indicators are installed in every coach, a first for open-line rail services in India. With dual loco pilot cabins, the train eliminates the need for engine reversal, making operations more efficient.
Dilip Kumar also said that the third Amrit Bharat Express in India will connect Saharsa in Bihar to Mumbai's Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, after successful launches on the Darbhanga-Anand Vihar and Malda Town-Bengaluru routes.
Designed for speeds up to 130 km/h, this non-AC sleeper express promises an affordable yet comfortable journey for long-distance travellers.
He further said that manufactured under the Make-in-India initiative at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, the train boasts several modern features, such as, push-pull technology for bi-directional movement, foldable snack tables, mobile and bottle holders, aircraft-style radium illuminated flooring strips, spring suspension seats for enhanced comfort, electro-pneumatic flushing system in toilets, automatic soap dispensers and aerosol-based fire suppression, emergency talk-back and fire detection systems, a first in non-AC Indian Railways coaches and onboard condition monitoring system for real-time wheel and bearing health tracking make this train ultra-modern.
It is pertinent to note that in addition to the launch of these new ultra-modern trains, new passenger trains between Pipra and Sahrasa, connecting the newly built Supaul-Pipra line and Samastipur and Sahrasa, via Vithan and Alouli, will also be flagged off.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate three new rail projects in Bihar: the Supaul-Pipra, Khagaria-Alouli, and Hasanpur-Vithan lines. Passenger services will commence on these routes as well, enhancing local connectivity.
It is notable that with multiple Vande Bharat Express services already operational and the addition of Amrit Bharat and Namo Bharat trains, Bihar is entering a new era of rail transportation. These developments underscore the government's commitment to enhancing connectivity, safety and comfort for passengers while aligning with the broader vision of a self-reliant India.
In this sequence, the addition of these trains and projects will especially benefit residents of North Bihar and the Mithila region, offering faster, safer and more convenient travel options. (ANI)
