New Delhi [India], March 18 (ANI): Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Tuesday said that the Telangana government's decision to allocate 42 percent OBC reservations in all spheres was the biggest evidence of its 'commitment' to the social justice mission.
Further in a post on X, Venugopal wrote that a scientifically conducted Caste census followed by proportional representation was the need of the hour for the country.
"The Telangana Govt's historic decision to allocate 42% OBC reservations in all spheres is the biggest evidence of our commitment to the social justice mission.
"A scientifically conducted Caste Census, followed by proportional representation, is the need of the hour for the whole country," Venugopal's post read.
Further, he thanked Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi for being at the forefront of the movement.
"LOP Rahul Gandhi has been at the forefront of this movement, and Telangana is just the first step in this revolution.
"We are committed to implementing this nationwide and will continue to pressurise the Centre to conduct a caste census and accord proportional representation to SC, ST and OBCs in all spheres," the post further read.
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy also thanked Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for fulfilling the state's dream and implementing every guarantee and making real promises.
He further said that the promise of the reservation would not only end legal glass ceiling of 49 percent on the quotas but also would empower long oppressed communities.
"It is indeed a matter of pride, @RahulGandhiJi and @priyankagandhiJi that our Congress government in Telangana is fulfilling every dream, implementing every guarantee & making real every promise," the post read.
"The revolutionary promise of 42 per cent reservations for Backward Castes not only finally hopes to end the legal glass-ceiling of 49% on quotas but also moves towards empowering the long-oppressed communities' resources & opportunities in proportion to their percentage in the population. Telangana is indeed proud to lead the way for Social Justice in #India. Only @incindia can do it. Thanks again, Rahul Bhaiya and Priyanka Didi, for your inspiring & encouraging words. We will strive to ensure every dream is fulfilled and every promise is implemented. Jai Hind, Jai Telangana, Jai Congress," the post read. (ANI)
