Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], September 9 (ANI): Blaming the previous BJP government in Chhattisgarh for the Jhiram attack, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday alleged that they (referring to the previous BJP government) failed to provide security due to which the Jhiram attack took place and our leaders got martyred.

Speaking to media persons in Raipur on Saturday, Baghel said “Be it any political party, elaborate security will be provided to them. They (referring to the previous BJP government in Chhattisgarh) failed to provide security and Jhiram valley-like attack took place, our leaders got martyred.”

"We have chaired the meeting of ‘Unified Command’ one month back and given clear instructions to provide sufficient security to the programme of political parties in insurgency-hit areas," said CM Baghel.
Moreover, directives have been given to the concerned authority for providing adequate security to political leaders making visits to the naxal-hit areas, he added.
Responding to the BJP’s move of meeting the Governor over the law and order situation in the state, CM Baghel said that the crime rate in Chhattisgarh has declined. "As compared to the statistics of crimes during the previous government (in Chhattisgarh) and other states, the figure of crimes in the state witnessed a decline. They (BJP leaders) should have first met former Governor Anusuiya Uikey and highlighted the situation of Manipur," the Chief Minister said.
Even after the passing of four months, Manipur is still burning, he added.
Commenting about opposition leaders not getting an invitation to G20 dinner, CM Baghel said that around 40 years back during the regime of Indira Gandhi, around 100 heads of states and their Prime Ministers visited the country. "This time, a few of the 20 are not coming and they are not inviting opposition leaders, which also include Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge," he added.
Earlier on the eve of "Jhiram Valley Martyrdom Day", the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister said that the victims of the Jhiram attack are still waiting for justice.
"Justice has not been served in the Jhiram incident and we regret it. This is an emotional matter for us. Justice should be given to the victims' families and those killed in the attack and they are still to get it," CM Baghel said. (ANI)
