Bhopal shelter home rape: Accused sent to police remand

Bhopal [Madhya Pradesh], Aug 10 (ANI): A district court in Bhopal on Friday sent a hostel owner to a two-day police remand for allegedly raping a specially-abled inmate.
Ashwani Sharma, the owner of two shelter homes for specially-abled women in Bhopal, is accused of sexually assaulting a deaf-mute girl during her stay in his hostel.
"The accused has been identified and arrested. Also, all previous and existing tenants are also being contacted to check for other probable complaints against the accused," informed Raul Lodha, Bhopal's Superintendent of Police.
The case came to light when the girl went to her home in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar and narrated the ordeal to her family members. On learning about the incident, her kin approached the police and the First Information Report (FIR) against the accused was registered under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.
Two other women, who belong to Indore and live in Sharma's hostel in Bhopal, have alleged him of molesting them over years. A separate FIR, in these two cases, has been registered in Indore. (ANI)
