Bhopal gangrape victim demands public hanging of culprits

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], November 5 (ANI): The enraged victim of the gangrape in Bhopal has demanded that the perpetrators be hanged publically.

"Such people (culprits) should not be left alive. Police should hand out such a punishment that it does not happen with anyone ever again. In fact, they should be hanged on the streets," the victim told ANI on Sunday.

Her rage was also directed towards the police who initially refused to lodge her complaint.

"The most disgusting thing was police's behavior; we were going from one police station to another, we visited at least three to four stations," she said, adding that the Government Railway Police (GRP) and MP Nagar Police were the most disrespectful towards her.

"We faced this despite both of my parents being in police, so you can imagine what general public faces in such situations," she lamented.

The victim further informed that her parents caught hold of the accused after she helped in identifying the culprits.

''We took the accused to the police station, he confessed to the crime and still the police did not book a complaint," she added.

She said it took a whole day for the family to get their complaint heard in different police stations, until the Habibganj Police showed some cooperation and support.

On Thursday, the 19-year-old civil services aspirant was abducted by four men and allegedly gangraped when she was returning home after attending her coaching class.

On Friday, three of the accused were arrested.

Investigation is on to nab the fourth one.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also taken cognisance of the incident and directed a fast-track trial of the case. (ANI)
