Bhendi building collapse: Case of culpable homicide registered against SBUT officials

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Sept 14 (ANI): A case of culpable homicide has been registered against the officials of Saif Burhani Uplifting Trust (SBUT) in the Bhendi Bazar collapse case in which 33 people lost their lives.

The Mumbai Police said on Thursday that an FIR has been registered against SBUT as they didn't get the three-storey building vacated despite receiving notice and warnings from concerned departments like Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).

On August 31, the three-storey building collapsed in Bhendi Bazar, following which Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh for the kin of the deceased.

Taking stock of the situation, the Chief Minister had also assured that an action would be taken in case of any negligence in the incident. (ANI)
