Bangladeshi national held with fake Indian passport at Delhi airport

According to the FIR, on August 25, one Indian male passenger namely Anupam Chowdhury, a resident of Nagpur in Maharashtra, having an Indian passport arrived from South Koreaat IGI Delhi. During questioning, the passenger was found to be a Bangladeshi national.

New Delhi [India], August 29 (ANI): Immigration officials at Delhi airport nabbed a Bangladeshi national, who had used a fake Indian passport after he was deported from South Korea for overstaying.
The fraud was detected during the immigration clearance at the airport and alert staff immediately informed Delhi police about it.
According to the FIR, on August 25, one Indian male passenger namely Anupam Chowdhury, a resident of Nagpur in Maharashtra, having an Indian passport arrived from South Koreaat IGI Delhi.
During questioning, the passenger was found to be a Bangladeshi national.
His original name is Anupam Barua is a native of Chittagong in Bangladesh. He also has a Bangladeshi passport.
It was further revealed during questioning that he arrived from Bangladesh into India through Haridaspur Integrated Check Post (ICP) using his Bangladeshi passport and stayed in Kolkata for one day during transit in 2015.
Then he went to Bodh Gaya in Bihar and stayed in a Buddhist monastery for two days. After that he went to Nagpur in Maharashtra and with the help of one Joy Kumar, he procured an Aadhaar card and PAN card. With the help of these documents he fraudulently obtained an Indian passport.
“To obtain these documents he gave Rs 20,000 to his agent (Joy Kumar). He made several round trips to Bangladesh illegally. In 2016, he went to Thailand using an Indian Passport and came back to India in 2017. Again he went to Bangladesh in 2017 using his Bangladeshi passport and came to India in 2017 via Haridaspur Border. He never went back to Bangladesh as per immigration records,” reads the FIR in the matter.
Later he went to South Korea using his Indian passport and worked there as a construction labourer.
He was caught by local police in South Korea for overstaying and was deported to India on August 24.
“The accused person has been booked under the IPC section of Cheating, the Foreigners Act and Passport Act,” said a senior police officer. (ANI)
