Bangladesh delegation holds meeting with I&B Ministry officials

New Delhi [India], May 7 (ANI): A high-level delegation led by Gowher Rizvi, Adviser to Prime Minister of Bangladesh and including High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India Syed Muazzem Ali and other delegates met with Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare and other officials of the ministry on Tuesday.

New Delhi [India], May 7 (ANI): A high-level delegation led by Gowher Rizvi, Adviser to Prime Minister of Bangladesh and including High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India Syed Muazzem Ali and other delegates met with Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare and other officials of the ministry on Tuesday.
The focus of the meeting was on various aspects of making of a feature film on the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, co-production of which has earlier been announced by the Prime Ministers of both the countries.
Renowned movie director Shyam Benegal has been chosen to direct the film. Benegal along with scriptwriter Atul Tiwari also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Bangladesh delegation assured full cooperation in ensuring smooth logistics for the shooting of the movie in Bangladesh. It was also decided that Bangladesh film personality Piplu Khan will be assisting Atul Tiwari in the background research for the project.
Co-production of a documentary on Bangladesh Liberation War was also discussed in the meeting. It was mutually agreed that the director of the documentary would be from Bangladesh who would be assisted by a co-director from India.
Following the meeting, Prashar Bharti also announced to waive carriage fees for carrying Bangladesh TV on DD Free Dish platform. As a reciprocal gesture, the Bangladesh delegation also announced that a Doordarshan channel will be adopted on the soon to be launched DTH platform of Bangladesh.
A working agreement on cooperation between All India Radio and Bangladesh Betar was also agreed upon between the two countries, implementation of which would start from June this year.
The Indian Delegation also highlighted the strong network of community radio in both the countries and offered the services of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) for the training of Bangladesh personnel, along with exploration of sharing of content and best practises in this field.
