Katra (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 19 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday ripped into the Congress-National Conference partnership in Jammu and Kashmir accusing the political alliance of pandering to Pakistan's interests.
Addressing a public rally in Katra the Prime Minister suggested that the Congress-NC alliance is being applauded in Pakistan. PM Modi used the term 'Balle Balle' to note that the neighbouring country is very happy with the manifesto of the Congress-NC alliance and has openly extended its support.
The Prime Minister's remarks follow Pakistan's Defence Minister Khwaja Asif statement in an interview in which he said that Pakistan and the NC-Congress alliance were on the same page on the restoration of Article 370.
PM Modi warned voters in Reasi against voting for the Congress-NC, saying that if the alliance comes into power, Jammu and Kashmir will see bloodshed due to terrorism.
He said that Congress-NC wants to implement Pakistan's agenda in Jammu and Kashmir.
"We will not let Pakistan's agenda be imposed in Jammu and Kashmir. No power in the world can bring back Article 370 in J&K." PM Modi said.
"Every vote given to Congress will implement the manifesto of the PDP and NC. They want to bring back Article 370. This means they want bloodshed in the valley again. The Congress-NC alliance is being applauded in Pakistan. Pakistan is very happy with the Congress-NC manifesto and has openly extended its support. There may not be enthusiasm about the Congress-National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir, but the neighbouring country (Pakistan) is very enthusiastic about them. Pakistan is going 'Balle Balle' (having a great time) over the Congress-National Conference alliance. Pakistan's Defence Minister has openly come out in support of the Congress-NC alliance. He says their agenda is the same as that of Pakistan," the Prime Minister said.
Earlier speaking on Geo News to senior journalist Hamid Mir in a show Capital Talk, the Pakistan Defence Minister was asked whether Pakistan and the National Conference-Congress alliance are on the same page on the restoration of Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir.
Khwaja Asif replied, "Absolutely. Even our demand is also the same..."
The Pakistan Minister also claimed that Article 370 could return should the NC-Congress alliance come to power in JK.
"I think it is possible. Currently, the National Conference and Congress have very big importance over there. The population of the valley has been motivated a lot on this issue and I believe, there is a chance that the Conference (National Conference) will come to power. They have made this an election issue that the status of Jammu and Kashmir should be restored," Asif told Geo News. (ANI)
