Ayodhya verdict: Hindu party lawyers appeal for peace, harmony

New Delhi [India], Nov 9 (ANI): As the Supreme Court is set to pronounce its verdict in the Ayodhya land dispute case, Hindu party lawyers on Saturday appealed the people to maintain peace and harmony across the country.
"Followers of Lord Ram have always shown restraint and patience in their lives. Today, there is a need for peace and harmony in society. I urge everyone to maintain peace in the country and not consider the verdict in the matter as a victory or loss for anyone," advocate Vishnu Jain, the lawyer for Hindu Mahasabha said.
He said that the top court is scheduled to pronounce its verdict on four petitions.
"One of the suits was filed by Gopal Singh Visharad seeking the right to offer prayers, another by Nirmohi Akhada seeking management rights, one by Ramlalla Virajman seeking land for a Ram temple and one by Sunni Central Waqf Board seeking land for Mosque," Jain said.
Karunesh Shukla, the lawyer of litigant Mahant Dharam Das, also urged people to open-heartedly accept the Supreme Court's decision in the matter.
"The people of the country should accept whatever decision is taken by the Supreme Court. We hope that the decision is in our favour and a ram temple is built in Ayodhya. But we also want that a mosque is adjusted in the region as well," he said.
He also said that people should maintain peace as "violence does not please any gods".
Security arrangements have been made across the country ahead of the historic decision by the apex court in the politically sensitive matter.
A five-judge bench of the Supreme Court is scheduled to pronounce its historic verdict on a batch of a petition against the 2010 Allahabad High Court order in the politically-sensitive Ramjanmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case at 10:30 am today.
The top court had reserved its verdict on the matter on October 15 after hearing the case on a day-to-day basis for 40 days. (ANI)
