Assam: Two Bangladeshi nationals apprehended at Karimganj border, sent back

Assam Police apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals near the international border at Karimganj and subsequently pushed them back across the border.

Karimganj (Assam) [India], November 1 (ANI): Assam Police apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals near the international border at Karimganj and subsequently pushed them back across the border, officials said on Friday.
The individuals, identified as Kobir Sikhdhar and Md. Selim, were caught during a routine patrol aimed at curbing illegal infiltration.
Praising the efforts of the Assam Police, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on X, "In yet another successful operation of nabbing illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators, two Bangladeshis were apprehended near the International border at Karimganj and pushed back across the border."
Earlier in October, CM Sarma had said that the state police had apprehended another Bangladeshi national, who was also sent back across the border. In a post on X, he stated, "In a successful pushback of an illegal infiltrator in Karimganj district, one Bangladeshi national was apprehended and sent across the border by Assam police."
Similarly on October 2, the Border Security Force's Meghalaya division apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals traveling in an auto rickshaw from the Dalu side towards Purakhasia.
"On October 2, a patrolling party of BSF observed an auto rickshaw halting some distance away from where the troops were performing duty. Five suspected Bangladeshi nationals got out and attempted to flee. The troops chased them and successfully apprehended them," the PRO of BSF Meghalaya Frontier had said in a statement.
On October 1, Assam Police apprehended fourteen illegal Bangladeshi nationals in the South Salmara and Karimganj districts of the state. (ANI)
