Assam: Schools in Kamrup district to remain closed from Sept 24-27 due to heatwave

All government, provincialized, and private schools in Assam's Kamrup (Metro) district will be closed from September 24 to September 27 due to excessive heat and rising temperatures, an official said.

Kamrup (Assam) [India], September 23 (ANI): All government, provincialised, and private schools in Assam's Kamrup (Metro) district will be closed from September 24 to September 27 due to excessive heat and rising temperatures, an official said.
In an order issued by the District Elementary Education Officer, Kamrup (Metro) district on Monday, it said, "Based on the reports received from Head of the Institutions of different schools under Kamrup Metro regarding various incidents of ill-health and fainting of students due to excessive heat and dehydration and with due approval from District Commissioner, Kamrup Metro, it has been decided that all Govt/ Provincialised/ Private schools functioning under Kamrup Metro district are to remain close from 24th to 27th September 2024 due to excessive heat and rising temperature in the district."
"This decision has been taken in order to safeguard the students from the ill-effects of exposure of excessive heat, thereby ensuring the health and well-being of the students. This order comes with immediate effect," said the order.
Parts of Assam have been facing heatwave conditions, prompting the authorities in several areas to change school timings.
On Friday, the Assam government issued new guidelines, including school hours, for safeguarding students' health amid the heatwave-like situation in the state. (ANI)
