Assam CM takes stock of progress of Jongal Balahu Tourist Centre; asks to complete project within stipulaed time

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Raha in the Nagaon district yesterday and took stock of the progress of the construction of the tourist centre named after Tiwa King Jongal Balahu.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], July 14 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Raha in Nagaon district on Saturday to review the progress of the construction of the tourist centre named after Tiwa King Jongal Balahu.
The centre is being built at a cost of Rs 50 crore in Raha.
During his visit, Sarma assessed various aspects of the construction work and instructed the concerned authorities to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe, ensuring the highest quality standards.
Additionally, the CM reviewed the Tiwa culture-themed entry gates, cycle tracks, bridges over water bodies, guest house, museum, gallery, stage aquariums, exhibition hall, convention centre, and other facilities designed to highlight Tiwa art and cultural heritage.
Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika, MLAs Ramakanta Deuri, Sashikanta Das, Rupak Sharma, and Jitu Goswami, Chairman of the Tiwa Autonomous Council Madan Bordoloi, CEM Tiwa Autonomous Council Jiban Chandra Konwar, Member of the Autonomous Council Pranab Jyoti Morchong, Tourism Secretary Padmapani Borah, and several other dignitaries were present at the occasion.
Earlier, following the rowing boat capsize incident at Simlitola in Rongjui area on Thursday, the Assam CM visited the bereaved family members of the five victims and offered his condolences.
Four bodies have been found so far, and one person remains missing, according to officials.
The CM met the families of Sujan Malakar, Jit Karmakar, Prasenjit Saha, Gouranga Malakar, and Uday Sarkar, expressing his deep sympathy and praying for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
Speaking to the media, Sarma stated that the state government has provided an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of each victim.
He further mentioned that the government would explore additional ways to assist the grieving families.
Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal and former MP Queen Oja were also present during the CM's visit. (ANI)
