Guwahati (Assam) [India], July 10 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said the state's model school initiatives, designed to address educational disparities, are showing promising results, especially among historically underserved communities.
He was addressing the media after attending a meeting with Headmasters of Tea Garden schools and Model Schools at GMCH auditorium.
The Chief Minister said, "We have reviewed the functioning of the tea garden model school as well as the CBSC model school established by the Assam government. These two types of schools are classified as a very special school and we recognize it as our flagship program because the tea garden schools are specially dedicated to the sons and daughters of tea garden workers, while the CBSC model schools are established in educationally backward blocks."
Sarma expressed delight over the state's educational progress, citing the pass percentage in CBSE model schools and increase in student capacity
"So I keep reviewing both of these every year. I am very happy that our pass percentage in the CBSC model school is almost 100 and the student capacity in the tea garden model school has increased by 96 percent. So these are very welcome news for the state and I am very happy with the progress."
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday chaired a review meeting at the DC Office, Kokrajhar with District Commissioner and other key officials of BTR to assess the progress of welfare schemes in Kokrajhar, Baukhungri, Dotma, Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora constituencies.

Chief Minister Sarma, while reviewing the implementation of CMAAA, took stock of the number of applications received under the scheme, including the Monitoring Committee's selection of the applicants. He also took stock of the bank linkage of the applicants who applied under CMAAA.
