Assam: Additional Director General BSF reviews security scenario of Guwahati Frontier

Guwahati (Assam) [India], August 20 (ANI): During a four-day visit to the BSF Guwahati Frontier, Ravi Gandhi, Additional Director General BSF Eastern Command, Kolkata, conducted a comprehensive review of the operational preparedness along the Indo-Bangladesh international border.
At Frontier HQ he was briefed by Makrand Deouskar, Inspector General BSF Guwahati Frontier, and other staff officers on the current security scenario, the challenges faced along the border, and the measures implemented to combat trans-border crimes.
The ADG earlier visited the Indo-Bangladesh border in the Dhubri sector and visited riverine Border outposts located on char lands in the mighty Brahmaputra.
He evaluated the functionality of the Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CIBMS), which has been installed to provide 24/7 surveillance aimed at controlling various border crimes.
He discussed operational matters with field commanders, assessed the security situation, and reviewed border domination strategies to ensure the Indo-Bangladesh border remains crime-free.
In Guwahati, the ADG also called on Gyanendra Pratap Singh, Director General of Police Assam and SL Thaosen (Ex-DG BSF) Chief Commissioner for Rights to Public Service, Govt of Assam and discuss various aspects of border management and coordination between BSF and Assam Police along the Indo-Bangladesh border international border in Assam state.
The ADG commended the tireless efforts of the Guwahati Frontier in safeguarding the borders.
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma raised concern over the illegal infiltration from Bangladeshi borders, stating that the situation can force some people to come to India.
"On the situation in Bangladesh, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "The incident that happened in Bangladesh is concerning; there are two angles. One is that if such unrest continues in Bangladesh, then some people will be forced to come to India so we have to secure our borders," Sharma said. (ANI)
