New Delhi [India], October 10 (ANI): Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday congratulated railway players of the Indian contingent who participated in the 19th Asian Games in China.
Vaishnaw met Dola Banerjee, senior Sports Officer, Eastern Railway and Deputy Chef De Mission of the Indian Contingent participating in the 19th Asian Games and Amit Rohidas, Asst Sports Officer, East Coast Railway and member of Gold Medalist Indian Men hockey team here at Rail Bhavan.
The Railways Minister congratulated them for the stupendous achievement of the Indian Contingent in the 19th Asian Games, 2022 held in Hangzhou, China.
A total of 98 members from Indian Railways (IR), which includes 90 players, 07 coaches and Dola Banerjee as Deputy Chef De Mission, participated in the said Asian Games. Out of them, 39 players have won a total of 43 individual and Team game medals.
According to the Ministry of Railways, the railway's sportspersons have contributed to 22 medals in the Indian tally of 107 medals in this Asian Games.
As against their contribution of nine medals in the Indian tally of 69 medals in the 18th Asian Games, 2018, the railways players' contribution is 22 out of 107 medals won by India in the 19th Asian Games, 2022, which is a spike by 58 per cent. (ANI)
