Arunachal Governor adopts two TB patients under Nikshay Mitra initiative

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General KT Parnaik (Retd.), adopted two TB patients from Lower Dibang Valley district as part of his ongoing commitment to eradicating tuberculosis in the state under the Nikshay Mitra initiative.

Lower Dibang Valley (Arunachal Pradesh) [India], October 28 (ANI): Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General KT Parnaik (Retd.), adopted two TB patients from Lower Dibang Valley district as part of his ongoing commitment to eradicating tuberculosis in the state under the Nikshay Mitra initiative.
KT Parnaik visited the District Hospital, Roing, Lower Dibang Valley district and during his visit, he toured different wards of the Hospital and presented food baskets to the patients he adopted.
He is also playing the role of Nikshay Mitra. The Nikshay Mitra initiative provides TB patients with nutritional, diagnostic, and vocational support.
Interacting with Lower Dibang Valley District MLAs Mutchu Mithi and Puinnyo Apum and health officials, the Governor highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal to eliminate tuberculosis from India by 2025, ahead of the global TB-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) target of 2030.
He urged the public to unite in supporting this commitment.
The Governor encouraged health officials to promote healthy lifestyles, raise health awareness, and leverage technology for better analysis and planning.
He also praised the dedication of doctors, nurses, and paramedics in driving social reforms within the health centres, embodying the ethos of "care and share."
Dr Saga Migri, District Tuberculosis Officer briefed the Governor on TB and health issues in the district. Deputy Commissioner Soumya Saurabh and Superintendent of Police Tumme Amo were present during the visit.
On the other hand, the Arunachal Pradesh Governor and and the First Lady of the State Anagha Parnaik took part in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' plantation program at Anini and District Hospital, Roing on 26th and 27th October.
The events were organized by the Divisional Forest Officer, Anini Forest Division, Anini and the Divisional Forest Officer, Dibang Forest Division, Roing.
The Governor, who has been advocating for the conservation of flora and fauna encouraged the community to honour and celebrate motherhood by planting a tree in their mothers' names.
He highlighted that the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative not only pays tribute to mothers but also contributes to environmental goals, including increasing green cover, fighting climate change, and protecting biodiversity.
The Governor said that the program helps foster a stronger sense of responsibility and connection to nature within individuals and communities. (ANI)
