Around 94kg narcotics, 16,495 litres of illicit liquor seized in Delhi

New Delhi [India], Mar 19 (ANI): Around 94 kilograms worth of narcotics and 16,495 litres of illicit liquor have been seized under Code of Criminal Procedure and Delhi police act violation since the Model Code of Conduct came into force, Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh said on Monday.

New Delhi [India], Mar 19 (ANI): Around 94 kilograms worth of narcotics and 16,495 litres of illicit liquor have been seized under Code of Criminal Procedure and Delhi police act violation since the Model Code of Conduct came into force, Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh said on Monday.
"Besides 94 kg narcotics, 16,495 litres of illicit liquor has been seized so far. In this, 13,001 people have been booked under CrPC and Delhi police act violation," Singh said at a press conference here.
He also mentioned that 75 FIRs have been registered under the Arms Act and 93 persons have been arrested in this regard.
"82 unlicensed arms and 2,113 cartridges along with 16,495 litres of illicit liquor have been seized in Delhi in different raids since March 10, the day when the Model Code of Conduct for the general elections came into force. As many as 242 people have been arrested while 235 FIRs have been registered for the violation of the Central Excise Act. Four FIRs are being registered against different political parties," he added.
The poll body official said 77,05,537 men and 62,82,366 women will cast their votes in the 17th Lok Sabha elections in the national capital.
"Around two lakh people have been added to the electoral roll in Delhi in the last two months. The total number of eligible voters is 1.39 crore at present which includes 77,05537 men, 62,82366 women and 665 third gender votes,  including 1,81,756 voters in the age group of 18-19."
Moreover, Singh said a total of 90,937 hoardings, banners or posters have been removed all over Delhi. Out of these, 30,533 were removed from New Delhi Municipal Council, 3,141 from East Delhi Municipal Corporation, 41,131 from South Delhi Municipal Corporation, 13,721 from North Delhi Municipal Corporation and 2,411 from Delhi Cantonment Board.
Elections in Delhi will be held on May 12 while counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
