Army Chief presents President's Standard to 47 Armoured Regiment

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Oct.21 (ANI): Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat presented the President's Standard to the 47 Armoured Regiment in Jammu on Saturday.

It was a historic moment at the Jammu-based Sunjwan Military Station when General Bipin Rawat presented the President's Standard on behalf of President Ram Nath Kovind.

The President's Standard is an award for unit heroism and epitomises the history, undaunting spirit and acts of valour forged in sweat and blood of the regiment.

Raised in 1982, the 47 Armoured Regiment has won the President's Standard for its meritorious service of more than three decades.

The regiment operated primarily along the nation's western borders.

Saturday's occasion was marked by a mounted parade with battle tanks.

General Rawat will also release a Special Day Cover to mark the occasion.

He would also chair a security review meeting with top field commanders. (ANI)
