Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], October 17 (ANI): The Andhra Pradesh Police denied permission for the 'Solidarity to Nara Bhuvaneswari at Central Prison' event in Rajahmundry from October 17th to 19th to express their support for Nara Bhuvaneswari in her fight against the cases filed against TDP Chief and former CM N Chandrababu Naidu.
Nara Bhuvaneswari took to Twitter and shared the police notice, which advised people not to participate in the event aimed at showing support for her.
Questioning the state government, Nara Bhuvaneswari said that why the state government is restricting people from meeting her.
In response, she questioned what would be wrong if members of the Telugu Desam Party joined her in Rajahmundry to boost her morale. In her tweet, she questioned why the police were issuing notices, threatening action against those who wanted to meet a distressed mother.
"In support of Chandrababu, what would be wrong if the ranks of the Telugu Desam Party joined me in Rajahmundry to give me courage? Party workers are like our children. Why are the police giving notices that they will take action if they meet the mother who is in pain? Where is the right of this government to say that people and supporters should not meet me?" Bhuvaneswari posted on X (Formerly Twitter).
She further questioned the government's right to prevent people and supporters from meeting her.
Naidu has sought quashing of FIR registered by AP-CID in the alleged Rs 371 crore skill development scam on the ground that the police did not obtain prior sanction from the Governor as mandated under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.
The FIR against Naidu was registered on December 9, 2021, and he was added as accused number 37 in the case on September 7, 2023. Section 17A of the PC Act was not complied with as "no permission was obtained from the competent authority", the plea stated.
As Naidu was the Chief Minister at the time of the commission of the alleged offence relating to the skill development scam, the competent authority would have been the Governor of the state.
Naidu, presently the Leader of the Opposition, the national president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), called the action against him as "an orchestrated campaign of regime revenge and to derail the largest opposition, the Telugu Desam Party".
This motivated campaign of harassment has been allowed to continue by the Courts unabated despite patent illegality in the FIR, the appeal stated. (ANI)
