New Delhi [India], October 10 (ANI): Under the anti-dust campaign, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai conducted a surprise inspection of the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) project site in Kakardooma on Tuesday. Gopal Rai said that "during the inspection, irregularities were found at the project site. In such a situation, DPCC was instructed to issue notice to the concerned agency."
He also said that a monetary Penalty would be imposed for non-response. Instructions have been issued to the Officers to constantly monitor the construction sites. It is necessary to follow 14 rules related to anti-dust norms at all construction sites.
After the inspection, he said that the dust control rules were not being followed at the construction site. "Anti-smog guns are not running, the loose soil is not covered and the workers engaged in construction work are not even wearing masks," he said.
Due to the violation of dust control rules, DPCC was directed to issue a notice to the concerned agency. A monetary fine will be imposed if fail to respond satisfactorily to the notice.
For this campaign, 591 teams have been deployed. 82 Mechanical Road Sweeping (MRS) machines, 530 water sprinklers and 258 mobile anti-smog guns have been deployed across Delhi to control dust pollution.
Rai on October 7 launched an anti-dust campaign to combat increased air pollution in the national capital.
The Delhi Minister also announced that the first phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi aimed at curbing dust pollution.
The month-long drive to fight dust pollution in Delhi started on October 7 and will continue till November 7 under the winter action plan.
The decision was taken in a meeting presided over by Gopal Rai on October 5. (ANI)
