Andhra Pradesh: Massive gas leak occurs near Irusumanda village in Konaseema district

The incident triggered panic among residents across the area and prompted an emergency response from ONGC, the fire services, and the police.

Konaseema (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 5 (ANI): A massive gas leak occurred in Irusumanda village of Malkipuram mandal in Andhra Pradesh's Dr Ambedkar Konaseema district, according to the Fire Department on Monday.
Soon after the incident, residents across the area were in fear and in a state of panic. The ONGC authorities, the fire services department, and the police officials prompted an emergency response.
According to a Fire Department officer, the local residents informed Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) authorities after noticing the leak, following which the concerned teams rushed to the spot.
Fire department personnel, along with ONGC officials and police, are engaged in dousing the fire.
"ONGC officials, along with fire and police personnel, are dousing the fire. Villagers are in a state of panic and fear," Balakrishna, a fire department officer, told ANI.
As a precautionary measure, residents in the vicinity have been advised to stay away from the affected site.
No casualties have been reported so far. Authorities said the situation is being closely monitored.
