Andaman and Nicobar Command hosts maiden AnTech exhibtion, defence firms showcase innovations

The Andaman and Nicobar Command's ANTECH 2024, held from September 2 to 3 in Port Blair, as per officials, aimed to bridge the gap between the defence industry and the Ministry of Defence by showcasing advanced technologies and fostering connections, with the event organised in collaboration with CII and SIDM.

Port Blair (Andaman and Nicobar) [India], September 4(ANI): The Andaman and Nicobar Command which is an integrated tri-services command of the Armed Forces conducted a maiden two-day ANTech exhibition and seminar at Port Blair from Septemeber 2 and 3. Inaugurated by Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, the event was conducted in collaboration with CII and SIDM and sought to foster ties between the Defence Industry and the Ministry of Defence.
The ANTech event showcases the resolved of the Armed Forces in encouraging technological innovations in keeping with the theme of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'. It provided a stage for various stakeholders to understand challenges being faced by the Armed Forces and suggest solutions for the same.
At the event, Delhi-based defence firm Aimtrex, showcased their new innovations at the Andaman and Nicobar Command's two-day ANTECH event. The company highlighted that Aimtrex's innovations include modern indoor shooting ranges and vertical wind tunnels, among other advancements.
"We design and build indoor shooting ranges according to specific requirements. Our ranges are entirely soundproof, and shooters can review the bullseye from a display without needing to approach the target, making the process more time-efficient," Aimtrex Spokesperson Sanjay Kumar explained.
He also noted that Aimtrex manufactures vertical wind tunnels used for paragliding practice by special forces and for killhouses.
Arjun Naik, Founder and CEO of Scandron from Bengaluru, also spoke at the event. Scandron specialises in logistics, surveillance, and custom drones.
"This is the first time we have interacted with the Andaman and Nicobar Command," Naik said. "We want to demonstrate our drone capabilities to the troops here and understand how we can support their operations. We hope to set up trials soon and participate in more opportunities like ANTECH."
ANTech serves as a platform to bridge the gap between the Andaman and Nicobar Command's operational needs and advanced solutions from the Indian defence industry. (ANI)
