Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India] Feb 13, (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a dip in Sangam during the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj (Allahabad) on Wednesday.
Shah and Adityanath, along with other leaders were seen taking a dip while chanting religious slogans along with Sadhus.
The Kumbh Mela is the largest human congregation in the world, with over 130 million pilgrims expected to take part in the festival with a belief that taking a dip in the holy water of Ganges River will pave the way for their salvation and would rid them of their sins.
The 55-day long festival will end on March 4.
Meanwhile, the Allahabad High Court earlier directed that no photographs of women taking a bath or a dip in the river during Kumbh Mela would be published by any print or visual media house.
After hearing the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Aseem Kumar Rai, the Allahabad High Court said, "If any publication is found to have done the same, an action shall be taken against the publisher by the High Court." (ANI)
