Amit Shah salutes "Himveers" as ITBP celebrates 64th Raising Day

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday greeted the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel on their 64th Raising Day, praising the 'Himveers' for securing the nation's dignity in merciless terrains and unforgiving climates.

New Delhi [India], October 24 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday greeted the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel on their 64th Raising Day, praising the 'Himveers' for securing the nation's dignity in challenging terrains and harsh climatic conditions.
In a post on X, Amit Shah lauded their courage and commitment, saying they have "set glorious precedents" and paid homage to jawans who gave their lives for the country.


"Greetings to ITBP personnel on their Raising Day. Securing the dignity of the nation in merciless terrains and unforgiving climates, the Himveers of the ITBP have set glorious precedents in courage and commitment to the nation. Salutations to martyrs who gave their lives for the country," he wrote.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma congratulated the 'Himveers' for their loyalty and indomitable courage in protecting India's borders, even in adverse conditions.


In a post on X, Sharma wrote, "Heartfelt congratulations to all the brave soldiers on the Foundation Day of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), which is perpetually dedicated to the protection of the country's borders and the safeguarding of its integrity! Even in adverse circumstances, we all take pride in your unwavering loyalty, discipline, and indomitable courage."
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Force was raised on 24 October 1962. At present, the ITBP guards a 3,488 km-long India-China border ranging from the Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh. Apart from this, the Force also has important roles in many internal security duties and operations against the Left Wing Extremism in the state of Chhattisgarh.
Most of the ITBP's Border Out Posts (BOPs) are located at altitudes ranging from 9,000 ft to 18,800 ft where temperatures drop to minus 45 degrees Celsius in extreme winters.
ITBP is a specialised Armed Police Force of the Nation that trains its personnel in various disciplines, including mountaineering and skiing, as well as intensive tactical training, thereby creating a distinctive image of the Force.
ITBP also conducts relief and rescue operations as 'First Responders' for natural calamities in the Himalayan region. The Force has responded in hundreds of search, rescue & relief operations over the years, providing succour to thousands of citizens in distress due to various calamities.
The Force has a glorious history over the past 6 decades, during which the jawans of the ITBP have made many sacrifices in the line of duty and in the service of the Nation. (ANI)
