Amit Shah inaugurates, lays foundation stone of several development projects in Chandigarh

The programme was held at the Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology in Sector 26.

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], December 22 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated nine projects and laid the foundation stone for three more worth around Rs 400 crore at an event here.
The programme was held at the Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology in Sector 26.
Addressing the event, Shah said, "Nine projects worth Rs 368 crore have been inaugurated today and foundation stone has been laid for three projects worth Rs 32 crore."
The projects that were inaugurated include an extension of the Himalaya Boys hostel in Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Sector 12, sewage treatment plant at Diggian, augmentation of the existing STP (sewage treatment plant) at Raipur Kalan, augmentation of the existing STP plant at Raipur Khurd, extension of workshop block in Central Polytechnic (diploma wing) in CCET, engineering department in Sector 26, construction of administrative block-C in CCET-26 (degree wing), engineering department, 192 T-II, houses the engineering department and extension of the Government Middle School, Palsora, Sector 56. He will also lay the foundation stone of the sewerage treatment plant-cum-effluent treatment plant, engineering department, Government High School at Sarangpur, and Government High School at Karsan.
Shah also spoke about the three Bills passed by Parliament on Thursday to overhaul the criminal justice system and said that the process of any criminal case will not take more than three years now.
"Yesterday, the Parliament has completed the process of turning three bills into laws which will bring a change in the criminal justice system of the country...After its (new criminal laws) complete implementation...the process of any criminal case will not take more than three years," he said.
The Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed the three criminal bills -- the Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita Bill, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita Bill and the Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill -- replacing the colonial laws namely the IPC, the CrPC and the Evidence Act with Union Home Minister Amit Shah pointing its a "begging of a new era" aimed at making time-bound justice delivery to Indians by protecting their human rights.
Giving prominence to crimes against women and children, murder and crimes against the nation, these three bills were passed by voice vote. (ANI)
