Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], October 4 (ANI): Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Hiramani Aarogyadham facility in Adalaj, built at a cost of Rs 50 crore by the Janshayak Trust.
During the event, Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritising the health of India's 140 crore citizens through a comprehensive health protection framework that includes 37 schemes.
Shah noted that this facility serves as a tribute to his parents and is inspired by the commitment of Shri Narhari Amin to serve society. He highlighted that environmental pollution and a fast-paced lifestyle have contributed to health problems, making continuous healthcare services essential but often too expensive for many citizens, particularly the underprivileged.
"The Prime Minister has broadened the reach of health services to rural areas," Shah said, while stressing on the collaboration between social organisations and the government to enhance public service. He pointed out that many aspects of healthcare were overlooked for 70 years after independence. However, Modi has initiated a thorough assessment and improvement of health services for citizens.
Shah added, "The Prime Minister has launched medical colleges and increased the number of medical seats. Over the next 10 years, approximately 75,000 additional medical seats will be created." He also mentioned the significance of the Ayushman card, which offers health coverage of up to Rs5 lakh for 60 crore individuals from poor families.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel echoed Shah's sentiments, and added that good governance has flourished under Modi's leadership. He acknowledged the financial burden serious illnesses can place on poor families, assuring that the government aims to provide affordable health services. The official statement quoting Patel said,"15 new AIIMS hospitals have been established under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's leadership. Currently, 225 medical colleges are operational across the country, resulting in the creation of over 70,000 additional medical seats. During his tenure, the Prime Minister has embraced a public welfare approach, implementing numerous health policies aimed at improving the well-being of Gujarat. In the past, people from remote areas had to travel considerable distances for healthcare; today, super-speciality hospitals are accessible even in the most remote regions."
"The number of medical college seats in Gujarat has doubled; today, super-speciality hospitals are accessible even in remote regions," Patel added.
According to the statement, Patel also emphasised the government's commitment to providing affordable treatment for serious diseases, including the establishment of dialysis centres and new day-care chemotherapy centres in Gujarat. (ANI)
