In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Amit Shah hailed the success of the operation, stating, "A major breakthrough in Mumbai in seizing very high-grade cocaine, ganja, and cannabis gummies and arresting four people. It is a testament to the success of the top-to-bottom approach to investigation adopted to make PM Narendra Modi's vision for a drug-free India a reality."

Earlier in the day, the NCB-Mumbai zonal unit confirmed the arrest of 4 people and the seizure of 11.540 Kgs of high-quality cocaine, 4.9 Kgs of hybrid strain of Hydroponic weed, 5.5 Kgs of cannabis on January 31, 2025, busting an alleged drug syndicate operating in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The agency said that the four people arrested were anonymous to each other, using pseudo-names to converse day-to-day for drug dealing.
"In pursuance of PM Narendra Modi's vision of Drug-Free India (Nasha Mukt Bharat) and acting upon the Union Home Minister's directives, in a major breakthrough, against the drug trafficking syndicates operating in India and especially in Mumbai, the Narcotics Control Bureau Mumbai Zonal Unit busted a major drug syndicate in Mumbai," read a statement by the anti-narcotics agency today.
The agency arrested and seized the drugs based on leads of another drug bust of 200 grams of cocaine in January 2025.
"This seizure was a result of a concerted effort made by the team NCB Mumbai on the leads developed during a recent previous seizure of 200 gms Cocaine in the month of January 2025. After working on the leads generated in this case and through technical and human intelligence, the NCB MZU was finally able to reach the source of the contraband," the statement added.
According to the NCB, the drugs were going to be sent to Australia, and in the meantime, the bulk quantity of the drugs was being concealed in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
"Investigation conducted so far revealed that this syndicate is being operated by a group of people based abroad and some quantities of the seized contraband were sourced from the USA to Mumbai and being sent to multiple receivers in India and abroad through courier/small cargo services and human carriers," NCB's statement read.
Further investigations are underway to identify the backward and forward linkages of the alleged drug syndicate, the agency said. (ANI)
