Channapatna (Karnataka) [India] October 4 (ANI): Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday said that development works would be taken up in each Panchayat of Channapatna taluk with an allocation of Rs 2-5 crore.
Speaking to reporters after launching many development works in various Panchayats of Channapatna taluk, Shivakumar said, "Our government has taken up development works worth Rs 300 crore in Channapatna. We have sanctioned 5000 houses and are in the process of distributing them to beneficiaries. About 100-150 houses for each panchayat. The work on developing canals and filling up tanks is also going on. District in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy has already laid the foundation stone for various development works in the district."
Asked about the candidate for the Channapatna Assembly constituency in upcoming bye-elections, he said, "We are not thinking of the candidate right now. I will appeal to the party workers to vote for the party assuming that I am the candidate. I will appeal to them to vote for me irrespective of the candidate."
Asked about the FIR against Kumaraswamy for alleged extortion, he said, "I was busy with Dasara inauguration on Thursday and I am travelling to Channapatna today and I haven't followed this piece of news. I don't want to interfere in his issues."
"The entire city of Mysuru has been illuminated for Dasara and it is a sight to behold. I appeal to the people from across the state to visit Mysuru and enjoy Dasara festivities," he appealed.
An FIR has been registered against Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy and MLC Ramesh Gowda in the Amruthahalli police station of Bengaluru for alleged extortion.
The complaint has been filed by a businessman named Vijay Tata in which he alleged that they demanded Rs 50 crore from him and issued him life threats. (ANI)
