Kohima (Nagaland) [India], July 3 (ANI): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday clarified that the alliance between the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party BJP is strong.
"We have already given a joint statement that our alliance is normal and strong as it was," Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio said while speaking to the media.
Talks have been making rounds that the settlement between the alliance parties has taken a jolt with the result of the Lok Sabha election in the state capital. Rio said that they have already given a joint statement on that.
On the establishment of Municipal Councils in the state, Rio stated that it would happen immediately as it had already been notified. He mentioned that this could occur either be tomorrow or the day after.
When asked about appointing a woman as Chairperson, Rio said that he hadn't discussed it yet but expressed optimism, saying, "Hopefully and gradually, they will catch up. They are doing exceedingly well."
Earlier, on July 1, Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along and Minister KG Kenye issued a joint statement to clarify on the unity of the PDA.
"The alliance between the NDPP and the BJP is as strong as ever, and the PDA Government is functioning smoothly. The NDPP-BJP PDA coalition is issuing this joint statement to also give the accurate information on the alliance and the unity of the PDA. Much has been said and reported on various media platforms and there is a lot of misinformation and speculation on the PDA, therefore it is pertinent to issue this clarification". (ANI)
