New Delhi [India], July 17 (ANI): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday raised the issue of administrative control of Delhi in the all-party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.
"An all-party meeting was held in which it was discussed how the monsoon session, starting tomorrow, can be conducted smoothly. In the meeting, various topics including Kashmir, lynching, reservation, women safety and problems of farmers were discussed," AAP leader Sanjay Singh said told media.
He attended the meeting along with another AAP leader, Bhagwant Mann.
"When I got the opportunity to speak, I told the Prime Minister how Delhi government is not being allowed to work because of the Governor. I told him that the Supreme Court has given a verdict regarding the same. However, you are still not allowing it to happen. What have we done wrong? We want to give home delivery of ration, put CCTV cameras across Delhi, want to work in the education and health sectors," he added.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel, Congress leaders Anand Sharma and Ghulam Nabi Azad, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, and CPI leader D Raja were among others who attended the meeting.
Last week, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioned Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal as to why he was "selective" in accepting the Supreme Court's judgment on the power tussle between him and the Delhi government.
On July 4, the apex court in its judgment said that the Lieutenant Governor must work harmoniously with the state, adding that Delhi cannot be granted statehood, citing an earlier judgment.
The power tussle between the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor has been on since the formation of the AAP government in the state.
Meanwhile, the monsoon session of Parliament will begin tomorrow and will continue till August 10.
The session will have 18 sittings. During the session, Triple Talaq Bill, which has been passed by the Lok Sabha and is pending in the Rajya Sabha, will be among the top priorities of the government to pass it.
The government will also push for constitutional status for the National Commission for OBCs. Other bills including the National Medical Commission Bill and the Transgender persons (Protection of Rights) Bill will also be taken up during the session. (ANI)
